Successful demonstration of anaerobic digestion of on-farm waste is essential for the widespread adoption of the technology on small farms. At our lab we have constructed a demonstration-scale digestion for research and educational purposes. The digester was constructed using off-the-shelf components so that the design could be easily replicated and appropriately scaled on farms of all sizes. The digester will be featured as part of a lab tour and virtual tour that will be arranged through the IFAS Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises program to reach out to small farmers across the state about the potential for anaerobic digestion on their farms.
